So I know that some of you have probably been wondering- what is with the stoplight? A stoplight is not your usual symbol and it could be kind of confusing…. But let me explain. First of all the stoplight is big and bold- an attention grabber. This was done to make people ask questions, once again what’s with the stoplight? The stoplight symbolizes many things, but first off it symbolizes STOP human trafficking. STOP the injustice of the brutal treatment of these girls. STOP the stripping away of the innocence of so many little girls. STOP THIS EVIL! and START bringing them the Gospel and the hope of a CHRIST. Secondly, the stoplight has a red light, which symbolizes that these girls/women live in red light zones. Traditionally, in the window of a brothel, the owner would hang a red light to let potential customers know where the prostitutes were. BUT, today this symbolizes the abuse and torture of young girls COMPLETELY AGAINST THEIR WILL. The red light on the stop light reminds us to PRAY for the girls forced into the red light districts. Our stoplight is meant to be a call to action. A call to respond to the Gospel with urgency and passion. A call to share the love and redemption of Christ!!!! Now that you know about the stoplight and what it means, I hope that you feel ready to share about it someone asks the question: What’s with the stoplight?
