I don’t know about you, but last night was an extremely exciting night in our house. Last night, we watched the Chilean miners get rescued from the cave that they had been trapped in for 69 days. It was so incredible to see their smiling faces as each and every one of them was pulled out from the depths of the earth and the darkness. They even had to wear special glasses because the light of outside would be too bright and hurt their eyes. Can you imagine not seeing the sun for SIXTY NINE DAYS? I can’t.As we watched that miracle happen before our eyes, it reminded me of this Scripture:
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
God has called us to be light in the darkness. A bright beacon of hope to the girls in the most desperate of situations. A light of joy and hope in the darkness of human trafficking. A fire of passion that burns brightly for the glory of God! That is our mission. That is why S.O.S. exists. We are here to shine brightly and let the whole word see WHO we are shining for! Yesterday, I heard something very profound:You can’t see the light in the light. Where do you see a light? In the dark! We have to step out and SHINE in the darkness or else our light will never be seen. We have to step out of our comfy circles and shine in the darkness!! This light draws people to the Father, to Christ, to hope, to joy, to freedom!!!!! Will you let that light permeate your life? Your actions? Your entire being? I challenge you today to be LIGHT! Let God’s light shine through you! From the words of the classic children’s Bible song: This little light of mine I’m gonna let it shine This little light of mine I’m gonna let it shine Let it shine LET IT SHINE!
